A lively lizard brooch by Danny Romero three-dimensionally cast in sterling silver with vibrant red and purple stone inlay. The silver and stone create distinctive bands of color that run down his spine. He is so naturalistic looking that, if he wasn't so fantastically hued, you might believe he was real. I think he is a gecko, and I am enamored of his little twinkle toes. The back of the piece is signed "DROMERO." Circa 1980.

Danny Romero was a Yaqui silversmith and recognized master of intricate inlay design. His work was inspired by prehistoric petroglyph carvings and Hispanic religious symbols.
